Universal Browser colors            

The HTML 4.01 specification defined 16 standard color names. These names were also part of HTML 3.0 specification. These standard 16 color names are supported by all the browsers which run VGA palette. The names of the colors are case-insensitive.

The 16 standard color names defined in HTML and CSS specification are Red, Aqua or Cyan, Blue, Teal, Navy, Purple, Yellow, Lime, Fuchsia, White, Silver, Gray, Black    , Maroon, Green, Olive. The CSS 2.1 added an extra color “Orange” to its specification along with 16 standard colors and 123 other colors. The List of standard color names along with their Hex codes is as follows,

Additional Colors

In addition to the above colors, many other colors are defined by web browsers. Many of these colors are from the list of x11 color names distributed with the X window system.

The x11 color names are accepted by all the browsers which follow W3C standards.
